You’ve heard a lot about Miss America Nina Davulari, but there’s another Asian American who just missed getting to wear the crown.
First runner up Crystal Lee graduated with two degrees from Stanford University (human biology & communications), according to the Mercury News
Judging from her appearances during the pageant she’s very smart and witty as well.
“Tweet me, like me, text me! Streaming to you from Silicon Valley, I’m Crystal Lee, Miss California.” said Lee as she introduced herself in the finals.
Lee is actually from San Francisco and is a former Miss Chinatown.
In the interview portion, she was asked about her position on Syria.
“I believe as one of the most powerful countries in the world we do have an ethical obligation to prevent a leader of a country who is using chemical weapons on his people. I believe we should use congressional support, if we can, and the U.N.”
According to ABC7/KGO-TV, her friends describe her as quite positive.
“She’s so positive,” said Molly Crawford, Miss Santa Clara. “I’ve never met anybody more positive or happy than Crystal Lee. I’ve never seen her upset, never, and I’ve known her for, like, four years now. I’ve never seen her sad or anything.”
RE: First Runner Up’s comments in Miss America pageant on Syria: She said .. “I believe as one of the most powerful countries in the world we do have an ethical obligation to prevent a leader of a country who is using chemical weapons on his people. I believe we should use congressional support, if we can, and the U.N.”
What an ignorant and generic statement.. clearly the rebels used the chemical weapons. Ignorant people shut just shut their mouths.
RE: First runner-up Miss America’s comments on attacking Syria for using chemical weapons: How is it clear that the rebels used the chemical weapons? Especially when Assad’s regime has admitted that they possess chemical weapons? Who would supply the rebels with chemical weapons? Three generations of my family have served in the military, and they all concur that it had to have been Assad. Conspiracy theories turn out to be true about zero percent of the time. Rebels, who are underdogs, fighting against the oppression of a dictator’s regime, would gas their own children and then videotape it? That would seem to require far too many steps where someone among the rebels would have protested, and there is no historical precedent. But history has shown that dictators like Assad won’t hesitate to use chemical weapons on those who threaten their power.
