The campaign of Silicon Valley entrepreneur Ro Khanna is apologizing for an embarrassing mishap which made it appear that people who merely followed Khanna’s campaign on Twitter were raising money for the candidate.
The Contra Costa Times is reporting the Khanna campaign generated personal fundraising pages with the names and photographs of many of the candidate’s Twitter followers, including those of journalists.
“We were made aware of an unintentional, technical glitch on the back end of our website that resulted in the creation of some automatic online profiles,” spokesman Tyler Law said Tuesday. “We have taken immediate steps to remove the pages and address the problem so this issue does not happen again … and no money was raised from these pages.”
Khanna is running a well financed campaign to unseat fellow democrat Mike Honda (D-San Jose).
