Two Asian Americans in two separate high profile races on opposite ends of the country are neck and neck in their respective races.
Rep Colleen Hanabusa (D-HI) is just two percentage points behind incumbent Sen Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii) in a poll conducted for the Honolulu Civil Beat, reports The Hill.
The poll has Schatz ahead 38 to 36 percent with Schatz attracting most of his support from white voters and Hanabusa’s appeal strongest among Asian American voters.
Schatz was named to the job by Governor Neil Abercrombie despite the dying wish of Senator Daniel Inouye who let the Governor know prior to his death that he wanted Hanabusa to succeed him.
Meanwhile, Fit News is reporting that South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley (R-SC) is vulnerable in her bid to win a second term. A poll commissioned by the Democratic Governor’s Association shows Halley leads Democrat Vincent Sheheen 44 to 40 percent.
