It was the opening game of the season and the first regular season game since the Rockets announced Lin would no longer be starting, but instead would be coming off the bench.
Lin played 31 minutes and scored 16 points in the Rockets 96 to 83 victory, reports ESPN
Starter Patrick Beverley playing the first opening night of his career started the game, but scored just 5 points in ten minutes. Beverley did not return after injuring his ribs in the second quarter.
It was a physical night for both Rocket point guards. Lin received stitches to his chin, but returned to the game.
