Boxing promoter Bob Arum knows perhaps more than anyone else the significance of Manny Pacquiao’s upcoming bout in Macau on November 23 against Brandon Rios.
A defeat for Pacquiao, the unthinkable among Pacman fans, would be the champs third straight defeat.
“It will certainly hurt him if he loses this fight,” said Arum to ABS CBN. “It may signify the end. It will be very devastating for him,” he said bluntly.
Arum is perhaps one of the few in the country who still holds out hope for a Pacquiao- Floyd Mayweather fight.
According to SB Nation, Arum think if Pacquiao can put on a good fight against Rios, a Mayweather-Pacquiao fight could happen the second half of next year.
It makes for good headlines, but really? Mayweather has shown no inclination towards the fight. Critics say he was running scared. His supporters argue Pacquiao should have just agreed to steroid testing and the fight would have happened long ago.
