Fresh off his defeat of Brandon Rios last week, boxing icon Manny Pacquiao is in the devastated regions of Typhoon Haiyan handing out cash, bibles and canned foods to the victims, reports Rappler.
He toured Eastern Samar today and spent last night in the tent city of Guiuan.
“Let us find hope in God’s Grace to help us get back on our feet and recover from the devastation,” Pacquiao said.
The boxer’s bank accounts have been frozen by the Philippine Bureau of Internal Revenue in a tax dispute and Pacquiao reportedly had to borrow money so he could give to the survivors.
He is expected to be joined by American Idol runner up Jessica Sanchez who is also in the Philippines to help with relief efforts, according to ABS-CBN
She plans to be there through December 10 and has donated proceeds from her new single Lead Me Home to the Philippine Red Cross.
