Star Tribune: Hmong adopt Christmas traditions

The sound of jingle bells are actually coming from small coins dangling from Hmong dresses and vests. Christmas carols at Wheelock United Methodist Church are sung in Hmong.

“It balances what we need culturally and what happens in America,” said See Yang, 28.

Said another congregant, ““We like it because there’s two sides of it,” said Shoua Yang “You can have your traditional side, and your Christianity side. They fit really good.”
