Seattle Seahawks Doug Baldwin is preparing for the Hawk’s playoff game against the New Orlean Saints this weekend.
His team won the first seed in the National Football Conference with a 13-3 record.
Baldwin who is one quarter Filipino American on his mother’s side brought attention to the victims of Typhoon Haiyan when he entered the stadium before a game in November carrying the Philippine flag upside down.
He took time again Tuesday night during a video session on Spreecast.com to bring attention back to the Philippines, according to Rappler.
He talked about being in touch with his family members in Tacloban during the immediate aftermath of the Typhoon.
“They are doing well, actually,” said Baldwin. “They had some trouble getting some food earlier on, but they are doing much better now. All my family members, they moved up to my aunt’s house in Manila. So they are all partying in one house right now. But everybody is safe and sound.”
Filipino food remains a favorite of Baldwin, who credits his Grandmother for fostering his appreciation for it.
“Don’t get me wrong, I like pancit, I like chicken adobo, but lumpia is probably the best.”
