The Washington Post is reporting that former Assistant to the President and Cabinet Secretary for President Obama will be nominated by Obama for Deputy Secretary of Labor.
Chris Lu has also served as Co-Chair of White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.
Lu all but confirmed the expected nomination on his Twitter account this afternoon tweeting “honored by trust placed in me by the President and @laborsec.
Asian American advocates have lobbied President Obama to fill undersecretary positions with Asian Americans as a way of grooming them for a cabinet post.
Honored by trust placed in me by President & @LaborSec. Grateful to @MrSethHarris for his friendship and service. Very big shoes to fill
