Representative Mike Honda (D-San Jose) is urging Japan to apologize for the atrocities done to the comfort women during World War II, reports the Global Post.
“It is time for the Japanese government to make a comprehensive apology and redress the grievances sought by the hundreds of thousands of women who were victimized under this cruel system,” Honda told to the Yonhap News Agency.
Honda attached the issue to the spending bill that passed the House on Wednesday.
It calls on the Secretary of State to encourage Japan to issue an apology to the women for their sexual enslavement during World War II.
