Filipino American leaders are pushing harder for temporary protected status in the wake of Typhoon Haiyan.

TPS would give undocumented immigrants in this country temporarily the right to work and stay here given the unsafe conditions of returning to the Philippines right now.
The Philippine government requested TPS on December 13, but so far the Department of Homeland Security has not acted on the request.
TPS has been granted to immigrants from other countries following similar disasters such as the earthquake in Haiti.
