NBC: Korean diplomat says Kenneth Bae won’t be released anytime soon

Kenneth Bae You have to really feel for the family of Kenneth Bae.

NBC is reporting that a North Korean diplomat has said Bae won’t be released until he serves out his prison term of 15 years of hard labor.

Bae has already served 14 months in prison, longer than any other American ever held in North Korea.

“I cannot interfere into the legal system,” said Hyun Hak-bong, North Korea’s Ambassador to Great Britain. “When the judgement is done, then it is done.”

The Korean American is from Washington state. His mother and sister attended the State of the Union on Tuesday.

They thanked Democratic Reps Rick Larsen of Washington state and Charles Rangel of New York for inviting them and raising more awareness of Kenneth.

You can read more about Bae’s plight on NBC.
