Ryan Matthew Moore is the Filipino American filmmaker behind the upcoming documentary, Manny, set to be released in the Philippines this March.
“This is a dream that I had for a very long time,” said Moore about the film.
Moore first met Pacquiao five years ago through common friends.
When he first started filming he said he met challenges capturing up-close and raw footage of Pacquiao because of his complicated and hectic schedule. However Moore eventually gained the trust of Pacquiao and his entourage. He was able to keep tabs on Pacquiao and gain a level of access into his personal life that neither HBO nor Showtime has ever had.
Moore says he wants viewers to feel that level of intimacy with Pacquiao while watching the film.
“I chose the title ‘Manny’ because by the end of the film, I wanted people to feel like they knew him as just Manny. Not Congressman Pacquiao, not the Pambansang Kamao, not the guy with ten world titles, but the guy who you could be on a first name basis with because you feel him”
