A panel discussion will be held Saturday on the UC Berkeley campus on images of Filipino Americans in the media, reports the Inquirer.
The panel will consist of members of the film, music, television, broadcast and comedy industries who will discuss their personal experience working the media and the under representation of Filipino Americans.
Panelists will include Christina Luna (The Luna Company,founder/manager), Joey Guila (comedian/TV show Host), Keesa Ocampo (corporate Affairs, ABS-CBN International), and Walter Boholst (filmmaker/entertainer).
I’m trying to think of recent Filipino American images in the media and there haven’t been a lot.
The most recent was a dog eating joke on Anchorman2. I also recall an uproar made by Filipino American comedian Edwin San Juan at a luncheon put on by the Los Angeles County Sheriff. Can you think of any others?
