Cal State Task Force examines cuts in ethnic studies

Asian American Studies The Chancellor of the Cal State University system has asked a task force to look at the impact of funding cuts in Ethnic Studies programs system wide, reports the State Hornet(photo from Cal State Fullerton).

The budget cuts and reorganization of the programs have drawn criticism for diminishing the programs.

Chancellor Timothy White has put the latest reductions on hold while the task force, made up of six ethnic studies professors and four university presidents, evaluates them.

“Some of the campuses feel that ethnic studies have taken too much of a reduction,” said CSU Director of Public Affairs Mike Uhlenkamp. “The task force is examining that to see if that is the exact case. We’re hoping that’s not the case.”
