A student at Chapman University is working to bring the dramatic and historic story of Yoshio and Mariko Ikeda to the big screen, reports AA Press.
The Ikedas hid in a small shack in the California desert during the incarceration of Japanese Americans from 1941 – 1945.
Mariko struggles to bring her ill husband to good health. She gets some help from a white nurse.
So far $18,000 has been raised in a Kickstarter campaign with $23,000 needed to make the film and show it at festivals both in the United States and overseas.
