Over the last 10 days, two Indian American students have mysteriously gone missing.
Jasmine Joseph, a 22-year old Indian American woman, vanished in New York over a week ago. According to Joseph’s parents, she was enrolled at the New York Institute of Technology. However university officials have said that Joseph has not been a student at the school since last May. Her family has set up a Facebook page to collect information about her whereabouts.
Another Indian American student mysteriously vanished on a spring break trip to Florida on Monday evening. Reny Jose, a 21-year-old mechanical engineering student at Rice University, arrived in Panama City Beach, Florida, on Saturday. A police spokesperson said Jose’s clothing was found in a trash can behind the house he was staying at. Jose’s sister has set up a Facebook page with more information about her brother and his whereabouts.
These two disappearance comes just after the disappearance of Pravin Varughese, an Indian American student at Southern Illinois University, last month. His body was found in a wooded area of Carbondale, Illinois.
Police say Varughese appeared to have gotten into an argument while being driven home from a party. He left the vehicle on his own and wandered into the wooded area where police believe the cold weather may have contributed to his death.
