John Cho has been cast alongside Karen Gillan in the new comedy pilot for ABC, Selfie, reports Bustle.
The show is a modern day take on the Eliza Doolittle character from My Fair Lady. Gillan plays Eliza Dooley who’s consumed by social media and spends more time getting likes than making friends. Cho plays Henry and is hired to remake Dooley’s image after a public break up with her boyfriend.
ABC has now green lighted at least two pilots with Asian American leads.
The other is based on the memoirs of celebrity chef Eddie Huang and focuses on Eddie’s childhood growing up in Florida as a Taiwanese immigrant.
The show will star Constance Wu, Randall Park and Hudson Yang.
