The Bold Italic: Asian American male stereotypes complicate her love life

Mickey Rooney, Breakfast at Tiffanys“Nothing pisses me off more than when someone says, “I’m just not attracted to Asian men, ” writes Tiffany Wong in her blog for The Bold Italic.

She bluntly asserts to exclude an entire race of men from your dating preferences is just, well, “racist.”

Wong knows the stereotype denigrates Asian American men as nerds and sidekicks with small penises.

Wong  is also quite familiar with the Asian fetish that overcomes many white guys.

She also sheepishly admits she is dating a white guy.

So how does she come to terms with this seeming contradiction?

And why does she feel funny holding her white boyfriend’s hand in public?
