Divergent opens in theaters across the country today.
The movie based on the popular young adult novel could be the next big franchise movie, although reviews have been mixed.
However, bad reviews don’t tend to stop movie audiences from going to see a flick, especially when it comes to the action and comedy genres.
The movie features two young actresses, Maggie Q and Mekhi Phifer.
The futuristic story highlights a society where people are divided according to their distinct factions based on their personalities. Its not unlike the cliques many fell into during their school days and sometimes even in the workplace.
It’s no wonder then why this has been such a popular book series.
Q told Edge “’Divergent’ is sort of a weird fantasy — a warning of that. (There are) Lots of things you can get from it depending on what you want to get out of it. In some form, this film is a nice parallel celebrating being all things, and not being put in a box. I think for both Mekhi and I there have been times in our lives and careers when that box is very real.”
