Colorlines: Economic disparities dispel model minority myth

Reading Between the DataWow, perhaps nothing dispels the model minority myth more than economic disparities between different Asian American groups, reports Colorlines.

According to the Center for American Progress, out of 14 different AAPI ethnic groups, all but three had poverty rates nearly equal to or higher than whites.

Only three had per capita income higher than whites. AAPIs also have the highest long term unemployment rate with nearly half having been out of work six months or more.
