A Las Vegas nightclub is being accused of using stereotypes of Asian American women as prostitutes to lure customers, reports LAist.
A billboard near the Los Angeles International Airport for the Tao Nightclub shows a nude women with her back to the camera and butt crack partially exposed.
The women has tattoos with Asian styled lettering on her back. The caption in large lettering reads Always a Happy Ending.
“My visceral reaction is, ‘Gross, here we go again with objectifying Asian women and reinforcing the stereotype of Asian women as accessible sex objects,” said Gina Masequesmay, chair of Asian American Studies at Cal State Northridge. “Orientalism at its grossest: linking Asian women with prostitution and Taoism?! Blasphemy.'”
No comment so far from Tao.
