Mike Honda out fundraises Ro Khanna in first quarter

Mike HondaRep Mike Honda (D-San Jose) raised more money than his well financed challenger Ro Khanna in the first quarter of the new year.

The 7 term Democrat announced he had raised $650,000 in the first quarter.

Khanna’s campaign said he raised $460,000 during the same period.

It’s the first time since both actively began to fundraise that Honda has out raised Khanna.

“Our campaign has always said that we would have the resources we need to win in November, and our strong numbers this quarter show that we are on track,” said Campaign Manager Doug Greven. “We know that Mike will make it past the June 3 primary, and we will continue to marshal our resources for the November general election.”

Khanna, however, still has a significantly larger campaign chest with nearly $two million dollars of cash on hand. Honda has just more than half that at $1,050,000.Ro Khanna

“We’re especially proud to have increased our fundraising from last quarter and to tell the people of the 17th District we have done so without taking a single dollar from PACs or lobbyists,” said campaign manager Leah Cowan. “If he can, Congressman Honda should tell the people he represents the same, and if he cannot, he should immediately disclose how much of his contributions came from PACs, lobbyists and other special interests.”
