Almost five months after winning the televised singing competition The Voice, Jamaican Tessanne Chin still can’t get over the support she’s received from her country, reports the Star.
“It was an absolute dream come true,” said Chin. “I didn’t realize when I first went on The Voice that it would cause such a national reaction. I have to tell you it has been absolutely mind blowing to see how not just my country but the Caribbeans that lived in the US came together to support me and just wish me well. I want to make them proud.”
Tessanne is recording her debut album In Between Words and recently sang for President Obama at the White House.
“I was just beside myself the whole night. It was just an absolute thrill.”
Tessanne’s father is Jamaican Chinese. As I’ve been told more than once by Jamaicans, their national motto is “out of many, one people.”
