Daily Beast: @SueyPark & Arthur Chu play roles of the villain

Suey Park They say it takes one to know one.

Arthur Chu gladly played the role of the villain during his run as Jeopardy champion recently.

In a blog for the Daily Beast, he maintains that activist and prolific tweeter Suey Park also played that role.

While its true many have indeed villanized Park, one has to wonder if that’s a role she’s accepted.

Park first gained fame with her hashtag #NotYourAsianSidekick and then garnered tons of attention with her #CancelColbert hashtag.

The outspoken Park has not been bashful about attacking her critics. The feminist, if nothing else, has certainly broken the stereotype of the docile and submissive Asian American woman.

Chu says being a villain is not necessarily a bad thing and sees it as a sign of progress for Asian Americans. Do you agree? The community has certainly had its share of villains in the media from Fu Man Chu to more recently the role of the foreign invader in Olympus Has Fallen. Read Chu’s post in the Daily Beast and let us know what you think.
