Policy Mic: Will the day come when racial distinctions fade away?

HAPAThe number of people who consider themselves multi-racial spiked to nearly 9 million people in 2010. That’s an increase of 32 percent from a decade earlier, reports Policy Mic (Photo by Keoni Cabral).

National Geographic generated a lot of buzz a few months ago with its cover story on what the average American will look like in 2050.

26% of Hispanics and 28% of Asians right now marry outside their own race. So do 17% of blacks and 9% of whites.

This is likely to grow as surveys show those under 30 are more open to interracial marriages.
