IBT: Analyst says entrapment defense risky for Raymond Shrimp Boy Chow

Raymond Shrimp Boy ChowLawyers for Raymond Shrimp Boy Chow say their client was entrapped by the FBI into committing illegal acts.

The IBT says its a common defense, but one that legal analysts say is unlikely to work.

“Entrapment is often raised but seldom successful,” said Notre Dame University law school professor Jimmy Gurule, He says such defenses only work in  “extreme cases of outrageous government conduct.”

But Tony Serra, the noted attorney representing Chow, has a different take–saying his client only took money from the FBI undercover agents after persistent offers.

“The undercover agents sought to induce him, sought to involve him, sought to catch him in some overt act that represented criminal activity,” Serra said.
