24/7: Chinese American feels wrath of internet for using the term “chinked out”

Leehom Wang Fans lashed out at a Chinese American singer, songwriter and actor for using the term “chinked out, ” reports 24/7.

In a post in the Chinese microblogging site Sina Weibo, Leehom Wang wrote “bringing chinked-out to the entire world.”

Wang who is based in Taiwan has built quite a fan base in Asia, but some people reading his post reacted angrily, pointing out the word “chink” is racially degrading. Some even told him to “go back to America.”

Wang says the phrase “chinked out” refers to his style of music and comes from the lyrics to Heroes of Earth.
