MSNBC: New study paints picture of Asian Americans and Pacific Islander leaning left

Richard Lui Richard Lui (pictured) of MSNBC reports Asian Americans are leaning left politically, according to a new study by the Center for American Progress.

58 percent of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders support a path to citizenship. That’s up significantly from 2008 when just 32 percent of AAPIs supported that.

The study also found Asian Americans support bigger government (55%) and higher taxes for the wealthy as a way to reduce the deficit (67%).

87% of AAPIs agreed with the statement “America will learn more from one another and be enriched by exposure to many different cultures.” That compares to 70% nationwide.

These attitudes may represent a generational swing in the AAPI community. You can read more about that on MSNBC.
