India West: Indian American crowned Miss Vermont

Miss Vermont Lucy EdwardsLucy Edwards has been crowned Miss Vermont 2014 and will compete to succeed Nina Davuluri as Miss America, reports India West.

The Indian American is a sophomore at the University of Vermont majoring in neuroscience and is from Round Hill, Virginia.

Lucy is well aware she could become the second straight  Miss America of Indian American descent.

“Nina has been an amazing role model for me,” she told beautypageantnews.com. “I’m also studying neuroscience and want to be a physician. So, to have someone like that to look up to know that girls like me can go up there and win is really inspirational.”
