LA Times: Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D renewed for second season

Ming-Na WenA show featuring two Asian Americans among an ensemble cast of super heroes has been renewed for a second season, reports the Los Angeles Times.

Marvel’s features Ming Na Wen as agent Melinda May  and Chloe Bennet as Skye.

The show began with strong ratings, likely largely from fans of the Marvel comic series and movies.

It then dipped before stabilizing.

“We anticipated it a little bit,” executive producer Josh Whedon said . “The Marvel flip at the top of the Chloe Bennetshow has only been in front of movies that cost millions and millions and millions of dollars, so when you see it, there’s an expectation that you’re going to see a Marvel film. We knew from the get-go that this is a TV show and we can’t compete with the films but that we would be held up against them.”
