posted by Randall

James HongDavid WangGeorge ChenShock & disbelief is giving way to numbness for many of the family and friends of three Bay Area victims of Elliot Rodger, the 22-year old who went on a killing rampage Friday night.

All three of the victims stabbed to death in his apartment were Asian Americans– 20-year-old James Cheng-Yuan Hong, 20-year-old David Wang, and 19-year-old George Chen (pictured L-R).

ABC7/KGO talked to some of those who knew the victims.

Chen served as a camp counselor for the YMCA and was studying computers.

“I feel, like, really bad for his parents, his family. And I just wish it could have been prevented,” said Chen’s high school classmate,  Chanbra Basu.

Hong helped at the Rainbow Chinese School in Cupertino and also was studying computers.

“I’m still in disbelief and I broke down into tears yesterday,” said Osher Shefer who said Hong helped her get through her physics class at Santa Barbara. “He was honestly just an innocent, genuine sweetheart.”

David Wang graduated from Fremont Christian School and he was majoring in engineering at UC Santa Barbara.

“We are all in shock right now,” said neighbor Abhijit Daga. “We are trying to support the family. And as a community, everyone.”

Wang’s family talked to NBC Bay Area. You can watch their interview below.
