A new poll by AARP has found age discrimination is a bigger issue for Asian Americans than other ethnic groups (photo by Happiness Sam).
37 percent of Asian Americans polled in New York say that them self, a family member or friend have not been hired because they are over 50.
That compares to 27 percent of Hispanics who feel the same way, 25% white and 24% black.
43% of Asian American women feel this way compared to 30% of the men.
AARP says the issues raised warrant greater attention and it plans to work with lawmakers on the matter.

RE: Age discrimination a big issue in the Asian American community: It maybe that overall APA’s over 50 are the most highly educated Americans in the this age group. That’s probably why they don’t get hired. Employers don’t want “smart” employees…thus leading to this type of discrimination. AARP should ask the APA’s what is the highest level of education they have.
