Huffington Post: Jesse Jackson says don’t forget Kenneth Bae

Kenneth BaeKorean American Kenneth Bae is now into his 18 month in a North Korean prison.

Sadly he’s closer to his two year anniversary of imprisonment than he is to being released.

Civil rights leader Jesse Jackson along with Georgetown University researcher Grace Ji-Sun Kim reminded us in their blog in the Huffington Post that Bae must not be allowed to suffer in silence.

When something goes on as long as Bae’s imprisonment has gone, it is easier to lose interest and attention. That must not be allowed to happen.

The Christian missionary who also worked as a tour guide was convicted of unspecified charges against North Korea. The United States does not have formal relations with North Korea and has been unable to even send a diplomat to meet with North Korea over the matter.

His family lives in Washington State and has been doing everything it can to bring attention to Kenneth’s plight.

“We need to make a moral appeal for his release and put the spotlight back on his case,” wrote Jackson & Kim. “When one Asian American family hurts, we all hurt.”
