The Crocker Museum in Sacramento, CA just uncovered documents that lead them to a basement full of art pieces and treasures belonging to Japanese Americans forced to abandon their homes and go to incarceration camps during World War II.
The basement was used to store some 400 pieces until the families returned, but many of them apparently never came back for their items, reports KOVR
“Given the time and the uncertainty of everything these people were going through, they at least knew that at least some of their things would remain and they were going to be protected by the Crocker,” said Registrar John Caswell.
