KTVU: Why Raymond Shrimp Boy Chow says its time to set him free

Raymond Shrimp Boy Chow Raymond Shrimp Boy Chow, in custody following his arrest in the Leland Yee corruption probe, is asking a judge to release him from prison on bail, reports KTVU (photo from Facebook).

The head of the Chee Kung Tong, a fraternal organization in Chinatown which police say has a criminal faction, says he’s turned his life around.

“Chow is a rare example of accountability and non-violence in modern-day San Francisco,” his attorney Tony Serra wrote in a court filing.

“Throughout the last decade Chow has tirelessly used his past mistakes to help the San Francisco community to be a safer place,” said Serra.

Serra contends Chow has been a changed man since serving a prison sentence earlier in his life.

He says his client is committed to helping Chinese assimilate into the community.

Chow faces ten charges, including seven counts for money laundering.

A bail hearing has been set for June 11.
