Patrick Harran faced four felony counts of safety violations in the death of 23-year-old Indian American research assistant Sheharbano “Sheri” Sangji.
Under a plea bargain, Harran will pay $10,000 to a burn center, develop new safety procedures and perform community service including teaching a chemistry class to underprivileged high school students.
Sangji’s parents expressed disappointment in the agreement.
“Patrick Harran has been completely unrepentant about ordering Sheri to perform an extremely dangerous experiment without providing her with training or supervision as he is required to by law,” the Sangji family statement said.
