The Philippine Consulate says a fatal attack on a Filipino limo driver in the borough of Queens in New York is not racial, reports GMA.
Consul Felipe Carino is disputing reports that racial slurs came from the suspect before he was hit. Published media reports had indicated the suspect asked the victim if he was Filipino before striking him.
“It’s not along racial lines, according to investigation provided to us,” Carino said. “No conclusion at this time, but we hope the investigation is fair.”
56-year old Robert Matirez died this week after being on life support.
