The Star Advertiser reports that skateboarding legend Shogo Kubo died in a drowning accident Tuesday. (graphic from zboys.net).
The 54-year old died while paddleboarding of the coast of Hawai’i Kai, Honolulu after people saw him struggling in the water.
The Daily Mail reports that people rushed out to Kubo and pulled him to shore, but emergency personnel could not revive him.
He was one of the original members of the Z-boys skateboarding team of Venice, California. They were founded in 1975 and pioneered many skateboarding moves, including many borrowed from surfing.
