Avril Lavigne Hello KittyYou might remember the uproar that followed Avril Lavigne’s Hello Kitty video this past April.

The zappy “tribute” to the Japanese was condemned as a cultural appropriation of Japanese culture and just plain bad.

Avril Lavigne’s video “Hello Kitty” was created as a love letter to Japan. This inspired me to write a parody and celebrate Canada’s influential culture — its celebrities, hobbies, foods, and of course, the national animal, the Beaver!
