Post: Mountain named after Indian American scientist

Antartica The Post reports that the United States has named a mountain in the Antarctic after an Indian American scientist (file photo of Antarctic).

Mt. Sinha has been named for Akhouri Sinha of the University of Minnesota. He is being honored for his work as an explorer in 1971-72. He also cataloged populations of seals, whales and birds in 1972 and 1974.

“I went to Antarctica on two expeditions lasting for about 22 weeks on the US Coast Guard cutters, Southwind and Glacier, during 1972 and 1974, respectively,” said Sinha.

You can read more about his exploits in the Post.
