Daily Record: Judith Hill 20 Feet from Stardom

Judith Hill Back up singer and soon to be solo artist Judith Hill is 20 Feet from Stardom.

That’s the title of the Academy Award winner for Best Documentary Feature which will be available on DVD July 21, reports the Daily Record.

Living life seemingly forever out of the spotlight may look like a thankless job.

But Judith Hill who is of Japanese American and African American descent has managed to emerge from the shadow and will soon be releasing her debut solo album.

She was one of the singers featured in the documentary along with Darlene Love, Merry Clayton, Lisa Fischer, Táta Vega, Jo Lawry and many others.

“My parents are both musicians and it rubbed off on me. I remember my mum wrote a song with me when I was four. That’s how young I was when I realized I loved music,” said Hill.

“They have been so supportive over the years. As well as my parents I’ve been inspired by a variety of musicians from Louis Armstrong to Ella Fitzgerald and Aretha Franklin to The Temptations.”

You can read about Hill’s journey out of the shadows in the Daily Record.
