Northwest Asian Weekly: Unemployment Rising Among Young Asian Americans

graduationThe rate of young Asian Americans who have not been able to find work since 2007 has more than tripled, reports Northwest Asian Weekly.

Unemployment among Asian Americans between the ages of 16 to 24 was slightly above 6% in 2007. It jumped to 21.6% in 2010, according to new information just released from the U.S. Department of Labor.

Black youth had a higher rate of unemployment at 33.4 percent as did Latinos at 22.1%, but Asian Americans are more likely to have a college degree.

  AsAmNews previously reported that Asian American college grads since 2008 are the most likely to be unemployed.

People of Asian Indian descent are the most likely to be employed. People of Japanese descent the least likely.
