Mercury News: Leland Yee Pleads Not Guilty to Racketeering Charges

Leland Yee Suspended State Senator Leland Yee entered a not guilty plea to new charges of racketeering in his corruption case, reports the Mercury News.

Yee is accused of accepting $60,000 from an undercover agent posing as a representative of an NFL team owner in exchange for Yee’s vote on a worker’s compensation insurance bill for professional athletes.

“We gotta juice this thing,” Yee is quoted as saying to the agent.

His attorney is expected to move to dismiss much of the evidence against his client.

Some of the techniques federal investigators used to go after Yee are the same strategies used to entrap mafia figures. You can read more about that in the Mercury News.
