An award-winning Filipino American math teacher is making math fun and easier to remember for his 7th and 8th grade students at Renaissance Charter School in Jackson Heights, New York, reports Balitang America.
Ramil Buenaventura is known to bust out into a Michael Jackson move or have his students sing along with him with lyrics designed to make math formulas as easy to remember as their own names.
He’s one of 12 Big Apple Awardees chosen from 3,000 nominees by the New York City’s Department of Education. Buenaventura will receive a fellowship grant as part of his award.
“The good thing is I will be part of the voice of teachers here in New York,” he said.
You can see him in action in the classroom in the clip below from Balitang America.
