The community came together Friday night in Bremerton, Washington to mourn the death of a 6-year old girl originally reported missing last weekend, reports Q13.
Authorities say the death of Jenise Wright is being investigated as a homicide.
Her parents waited a day to report her disappearance, saying their neighborhood was safe and just thought she was out playing. She was discovered dead Thursday in a wooded area.
“You hear about these things on the news all the time,” said Danielle Kraft, a mother who lives in Bremerton. “When it’s in your hometown, it’s so much worse.”
