Inquirer: Boy Killed by Tornado During Family Camping Trip

Lheandrew Lloyd BalabatA boy who had been in a coma since last month’s tornado in Virginia swept through his family’s campground has died of his injuries, reports the Inquirer.

13-year old Lheandrew Lloyd Balatbat was pinned down under a tree after the tornado that also killed his mother and father hit.

The family was not aware of the coming tornado until they received a text alert. By then, rain and debris was pounding on their tent and the only protection they could find was a tarp to shield their tent from some of the elements.

Lheandrew is survived by his sisters, Lharizia Ann, 12, and Lheana Ann, 7.

“We are so heartbroken at what happened to our parents,” Lharizia Ann told the Jersey Journal at the funeral of her parents. “We are going to miss you.”
You can read first hand accounts of the tornado from Lheandrew’s uncle who was also camping with the family that day in the Inquirer.
