Daily Ledger: 2 Tutors Accused of Abusing Korean Children in Queens

Crown AcademyTwo people from a private tutoring center in Queens, NY have been arrested on charges of abusing four children sent by their families from South Korea.

The Daily Ledger reports Sun Kyung Park, 33, of Oakland Gardens, and Min Kyung Chea, of Little Neck are accused of withholding food from the children and denying them bathroom breaks.

The two work for the Crown Tutoring Academy which denies the charges.

“There is no victim here,” said a spokesman. “These are serious allegations, but they are not true.”

Defense attorney Dennis Ring says the allegations stem from a disgruntled ex-employee.

In a related matter, a bill is in the works to require background checks of tutoring employees.

You can read more about that in the Daily Ledger.
