A then 14-year old Asian American is credited by the US government with inventing email, but some dispute that claim, reports NDTV.
V.A. Shiva Ayyadurai was just a high school student in New Jersey in 1978, but was already doing some work with the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.
According to the US government, he developed an interoffice mail system in 1978 called email and received a copyright in 1982. But others insist Avyadurai may have gotten the copyright, but other researchers were already working on the email like technology.
You can read Avyadurai response to that and another report on the controversy in NDTV.
