Political upstart Tim Wu lost 60 to 40 percent Tuesday in the New York Democratic primary for Lieutenant Governor.
Wu won an endorsement from the New York Times, but it wasn’t enough to defeat Andrew Cuomo’s running mate, former Buffalo congresswoman Kathy Hochul.
Wu still managed to do better than the woman he ran with, Zephyr Teachout, a law professor from Fordham University who was defeated by incumbent Governor Andrew Cuomo 62-34 percent.
Wu had hoped to rally the Asian American vote, but failed to win support from such high profile Asian American politicians as New York Congresswoman Grace Meng (D-Queens) and State Assemblyman Ron Kim (D-Queens) who both backed the more politically entrenched Hochul.
